Find It on the No Worries Club Website: Yield the Forequarters Help

NWCfind

Teaching a horse to yield his forequarters is often one of the most difficult exercises to teach from the Fundamentals level of the Method. The reason is because a lot of horses, especially those that are really pushy and disrespectful, use their heads, necks and shoulders to push you around and move you out of their way. If you don’t teach your horse how to yield his forequarters, he will get very pushy and disrespectful. Once you know how to do this exercise, it’s relatively easy to teach a horse. But in the beginning, it can seem frustrating because most horses don’t try to help you.

In the Testing the Method section of the No Worries Club video library, Clinton critiques three horsemen as they practice each of the groundwork and riding exercises from the Fundamentals level of the Method, including Yield the Forequarters.
